Bulletin of the Josselyn Botanical Society of Maine Number 8

Dedicated to Ralph Carleton Bean in appreciation of his devoted service to the Josselyn Botanical Society for more than half a century. His genuine interest in botany began in his boyhood days and has not diminished through the years. A modest and knowledgeable person, he has won the admiration and respect of his colleagues not only as a competent botanist but also as an amiable and considerate individual of great understanding. His keen eye, scholarly approach, sound judgement, persevering nature, and broad interest in taxonomy has contributed much to the knowledge of Maine plants. Without his pain-staking work the publication of the revised check-list would not have been possible.
