Monuments in Cedar

This volume is dedicated to the memory of those early Alaskan and Northwest Coast photographers, amateur as well as professional, whose pictures have not only made illustration of the text possible, but have helped immeasurably in preserving a memory of some of the world's most interesting sculptured monuments which, being of wood are highly perishable. In consequence, most have been lost except in memory or replica and only by photographs do we know of them.
